The United States rallied from 17 points down and pulled out a thrilling 95-91 victory over Serbia on Thursday to advance to the gold medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Team USA will meet France in the final on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.

LeBron James (16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists) became the first player to post two triple-doubles in Olympics history. Steph Curry knocked down nine 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 36 points, while Joel Embiid added 19 points and four rebounds.

Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nikola Jokic combined for 37 points as Serbia entered the fourth period with a 13-point lead, but could not thwart the American comeback.

The men's basketball fans in Paris also had plenty to cheer about Thursday as France held on for a 73-69 win over Germany in the other semifinal. It will be a gold medal rematch from the 2020 Tokoyo Olympics, which Team USA won.

Guerschon Yabusele and Isaia Cordinier combined for 33 points and 14 rebounds in the victory, while Victor Wembanyama added 11 points and hit a clutch free throw down the stretch. Dennis Schroder had a game-high 18 points and four steals for Germany, which opened a lead in the first quarter but couldn't hold on. It will play in the third-place game against Serbia on Saturday.

The United States features another star-studded veteran roster and is chasing a fifth straight gold medal. Team USA breezed past Brazil for a 122-87 win in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. By winning their first three games in Group C with the highest point differential (plus-64), the Americans secured the No. 1 seed for the knockout rounds.

USA already posted lopsided wins over Puerto Rico, South Sudan and Serbia to open the tournament as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Bam Adebayo and others have starred for Team USA.

Twelve teams participated in the tournament. They were divided into three groups, and the top two teams from each group advanced to the quarterfinals, along with two wild-card teams. Now, it's a single-elimination tournament. One bad shooting night, one questionable decision, or one bad whistle can send you home.

Both countries hope to win their second gold medal in the sport.

Spain has reached its second consecutive gold medal game, but finished with silver against Brazil at the Tokyo Olympics. Spain previously won gold at Barcelona in 1992.

France responded from the brink of elimination as Olympic hosts behind two goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta (83’ and 99’), and another by Michael Olise (108’) to defeat Egypt 3-1 on Monday.

France also beat Argentina 1-0 in the quarterfinals, and won Group A with a 3-0 win over the United States, 1-0 win vs. Guinea and 3-0 win against New Zealand in Paris.

So far, Spain's standout performer has been Fermin Lopez, a member of the victorious Euro 2024 squad who netted two goals in the Olympic quarter-finals and played a pivotal role in the semi-finals.

Eric Garcia, returning to the final after narrowly missing out three years ago, is expected to anchor La Roja's defence alongside Barcelona's promising talent, Pau Cubarsi.

In goal, Arnau Tenas will start, while Abel Ruiz will lead the attack, supported by Lopez and Manchester City's versatile winger, Sergio Gomez.

Spain won in comeback fashion behind goals by Fermín López (66’) and Juanlu Sanchez (85’) to edge Morocco 2-1 during their semifinal on Monday.

Spain also defeated Japan 3-0 in the quarterfinals, and finished second in Group C after a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan, a 3-1 win over the Dominican Republic and a 2-1 loss to Egypt in Paris.
