The NFL pre-season is an odd duck. Some fans largely ignore the games, since their favorite players are usually benched and the results don’t matter. Others, though, are so happy to have the NFL back that they watch religiously.
Whatever camp you sit in, it will be hard to avoid the full-fledged start to the 2024-2025 season this weekend. With the Hall of Fame game behind us, more teams will get their chance to try the NFL’s new kickoff rule and start figuring out how to use that to their advantage this year.

Football season is closer than ever to officially being back.
The 2024 NFL preseason continues Thursday, Aug. 8 and is set to run for three more weeks, giving fans a buildup of excitement before the start of the regular season.
This a chance for fans to get their fix, rookies to acclimate themselves, vets to tune up and for others to fight for a spot on the roster. Expect to see some inspired play as players make sure they are prepared for the long season ahead. Teams get to find out what type of depth they have, making the preseason extra exciting for fantasy players who are looking for a late-round stash.
This year marks the third consecutive campaign that there are three weeks of preseason action.
This year, four preseason contests will broadcast on national networks, including one on Amazon Prime. Fox, NBC and CBS will carry one game each.
NBC's stream can be accessed via the NBC Sports app, Peacock or its website; CBS will live stream games on the CBS Sports app and on its website. All providers will require users to sign in with TV provider credentials.
Meanwhile, NFL Network will broadcast 23 preseason games in 2024, all of which will be able to stream on a regional basis in the NFL app or via the NFL's official website.
NFL Network will also carry replays of every preseason game that will air periodically throughout the months of August and September before the start of the season.
